"Few young poets talk about the world of human experience with such intensity, pervasiveness and disillusionment as Jolanta Stefko. Few of them can look so deeply at solitude, absence and desire. Such experiences and the ability to name them create a poetry whose tone cannot be mistaken for any other," commented Marian Stala on the second volume of poetry by Jolanta Stefko.
Jolanta Stefko was born in 1971 and made her debut a few years ago with the volume Po stronie niczyjej / On Nobody's Side, which was awarded a prize in the Literary Competition of the Polish Editors' Association and The Raczynski Library. She was awarded a prize by The Polish Arts and Culture Foundation on Stanislaw Lem's recommendation. She graduated in Polish studies, and lives in a village at the foot of the Beskidy Mountains. To those who are already acquainted with her poetry, her new book, Ja nikogo nie lubie oprocz siebie / I don't Like Anybody but Myself, will mean a great deal. To those who are not, it may mean even more.
