Arkadiusz Andrejkow creates murals on unusual surfaces. The idea for his project, Silent Memorial, emerged during his walks around small towns in the Podkarpackie region. Andrejkow noticed the artistic potential of old barns and sheds. Their plain wooden doors were perfect canvases.
Andrejkow used old family photographs from the towns in which he created his murals. In the summer of 2017, he created 19 murals in ten towns.
Each piece took one day to paint. In his murals, Andrejow tries to create an impression of people emerging from the barn doors – as if these family members from the past were always present in these places.
