On the 20th of February 2012 the staff of Krytyka Polityczna, Artur Żmijewski and Joanna Warsza hosted a debate Martin Zet's Berlin Biennale project Deutschland schaft es ab
Ever since Martin Zet announced his campaign to recycle donated copies of Thilo Sarrazin’s controversial book. Germany Does Itself In aims to call attention to the intense racism and prejudice promoted by the book - which, incidentally, has sold over 1.5 million copies - yet the media have attacked Zet for propagating censorship and accuse him of working to destroy the book, threatening freedom of speech. Berlin Biennale curators Artur Żmijewski and Joanna Warsza opened up a critical debate in Berlin to discuss the issues around the Biennale and Zet's campaign.
Other panel guests included:
Ingo Arend (taz – die tageszeitung)
Stéphane Bauer (Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien)
Sebastian Wehrhahn (Mobile Beratung gegen Rechtsextremismus Berlin)
Koray Yilmaz-Günay (specialist for migration, Rosa Luxemburg Foundation)
Artur Żmijewski and Joanna Warsza (7th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art)
Moderated by Igor Stokfiszewski (Krytyka Polityczna)
