Culture.pl presents a few secrets from a tiny workshop where handmade hats are crafted meticulously down to the finest detail.
Andrzej Zaręba made his first cap in 1976. Although his father was also a hatter, Andrzej Zaręba learnt how to produce them on his own. He also established his own workshop in 1983. Until 1997 it was situated in the popular pavilions on the corner of Marszałkowska and Świętokrzyska in Warsaw. Today you can buy his hats at 25 Kopernika Street, one of the few remaining hatters in Poland. The hatter says:
We have been loyal to the traditional rules of hat-making since the very beginning of our existence. We do our best to preserve traditional methods of producing caps, hats and berets.
