'Raster's' Owners
A private cultural institution for the promotion of contemporary art and artists, including: the Azorro Group, Agata Bogacka, Michał Budny, Rafał Bujnowski, Oskar Dawicki, Zbigniew Libera, Zbigniew Rogalski, Aneta Grzeszykowska and Jan Smaga, Wilhelm Sasnal.
The gallery was founded in 2001 as a continuation of a collaborative project of art critics Łukasz Gorczyca and Michał Kaczynski - the art magazine Raster and the garage gallery Exposure. The gallery closed down its operations at the end of 2010, its final show presented in the form of a video entitled: The last film. Artists on their own failures and the failures of their gallery. The work is a collaborative project produced by most of the artists on the gallery's roster.
From 2003, the gallery was housed in a large apartment of a 19th Century tenement house located in the center of Warsaw, where in addition to exhibitions, there were concerts, literary meetings, performances and lectures hosted by the founders. "Raster" was actively involved in the artistic life of the capital city and collaborated with many institutions like the Luna cinema, the TR Warsaw Theatre or foreign cultural institutes. Raster is also engaged in publishing, it organizes exhibitions and meetings abroad and in other Polish cities. The gallery participated in international art fairs, including LISTE in Basel and NADA in Miami. In 2010, it organised the art festival in Iceland, inviting artists from around the world to create a veritable "artistic village" over July 9 -16, 2010.
