Located in the very heart of Beijing, at the east side of Tian'anmen Square, the National Museum of China (NMC) was founded in February 2003, based on the merging of two previous museums, namely the National Museum of Chinese History and National Museum of Chinese Revolution. The NMC is now a fully integrated national museum under the Chinese Ministry of Culture. It focuses on both history and art and is dedicated to its collection, exhibitions, research, archaeology, public education, and cultural communication. As one of the most important cultural and art institution in China, NMC displays not only China's outstanding civilization achievements, but also the art of other parts of the world.
