Jazz Jamboree is a legend among jazz festivals. Its first edition took place in 1958. Throughout the years its stage has hosted jazz celebrities like Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Ornette Coleman, Ray Charles and Miles Davis. In the 70’s and 80’s it gathered thousands of jazz fans and was one of the most significant events of that type in Europe. However, those time are now gone and the festival is looking for a new formula.
Recently it has hosted Mark Whitfield - James Genus Band, Kevin Mahogany Quintet, Rainer Brüninghaus, Yuri Daniel, Ravi Coltrane, Jan Garbarek, David Sanborn and Lalah Hathaway.
