The Centre for Contemporary Art at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, photo: courtsy of CCA The Centre was founded in 1985 with a mission to promote the creation and documentation of all forms of contemporary art, from exhibition, performances, presentations of visual theatre, concerts of contemporary music, to experimental films, video art and creative workshops, as well as various interdisciplinary events. CCA realises about 500 projects a year. It also host artists from abroad as part of its residency program.
The centre is housed in a 17th Century castle that once belonged to Stanisław Lubomirski. The building was demolished during World War II and was rebuilt during the Seventies and reverted to its original shape.
