Ad Libitum is an international Festival of improvisation art initiated in 2006 by Krzysztof Knittel and organized by the Foundation of Polish Music Council. Every edition is dedicated to a different genre of musical improvisation: from jazz to the avant-garde performance techniques, free improvisation, conducted improvisation, open and graphic scores and other connected music streams.
The festival also explores the interaction of Music with other arts; relations between the sound, the word, music and theatre in modern art movements, unconventional interdisciplinary works and syncretic projects. It also initiates the meeting of key figures of the improvisation scene in dance and music. The latter include: Anthony Braxton, Lawrence D. Butch Morris, London Jazz Composers, Maja Ratkje, Mirosław Bałka, Cezary Duchnowski, Piotr Damasiewicz, Maciej Garbowskiand others.
