<p>The origins of the European Solidarity Center lie in the signing of their Letter of Intent in 2005, but the centre itself arose created in autumn 2010 on the former grounds of Gdansk shipyard, near the monument of Fallen Shipyard Workers. The first stone was laid in the foundations in mid-May 2011. The project with a total value of nearly 300 million PLN, received from European Union funding in the amount of 140.15 million PLN. The new headquarters of the European Solidarity Centre will be opened 4th June 2014 - the 25th anniversary of free elections.</p>
