Michał Znaniecki is a director, playwright, stage designer and teacher, collaborating with opera stages in Italy, France, Ireland, Spain, Poland, Argentina, Uruguay and Cuba. He made his directorial debut at the age of 24 at Milan’s La Scala as the youngest director in the history of this famous opera house. Since then, Znaniecki has produced more than 200 new drama, opera and musical productions in major theatres and festivals of the world, working with such artists as Placido Domingo, Piotr Beczała, Mariusz Kwiecień, Lorin Maazel and Jose Cura. Frequently awarded for his artistic, educational and socially involved projects, Znaniecki specialises in open-air productions presented at stadiums, on islands and in parks. In 2012, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his artistic activity, he was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
The Fairy Queen will be presented in Wuzhen three times on 26th, 27th and 28th October 2019 on the open-air stage of the Water Theatre.
