The project was carried out as the result of the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year between the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. The first project put forward by the Chinese partner for the years 2015-2016 was the artistic exchange in the field of photography. As part of the exchange, two Polish photographers went on an artistic residency to China, while two Chinese photographers came to Poland.
Liu Yu and Yuan Dongping are both artists with great achievements, awarded at many photographic competitions in China and abroad.
Liu Yu worked as a photographer for Xinhua News Agency in London and Washington, and later during conflicts in Bosnia, Iraq and Kosovo, as well as at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. He was a winner and a member of the jury of many prestigious photographic competitions in China. As a curator or co-curator he was involved in organizing many photographic exhibitions at home and abroad, including exhibitions held in the United States, Belgium, Brazil and France.
Yuan Dongping, originating from Guangzhou, was awarded at the famous American competition "Pictures of the Year". He has participated in many exhibitions and published two albums of his works.
Both artists came to Poland for the artistic residency in late August. Their works created as a result of this visit will be exhibited in Beijing.
