The film most recently made an appearance on the list of 10 most innovative documentaries published by Dazed & Confused. Marczak's film was named after the “erotic” and ecological non-profit, NGO based in Berlin, Fuck For Forest (FFF). The Polish director spends time with the group to document their controversial activities. As described in the synopsis, the film's protagonist is a young troubled-soul, Danny, who accidentally discovers the FFF group while in Berlin. He believes FFF merges sexual liberation with global altruism and feels great sympathy for their cause to liberate love and protect nature. Fuck for Forest collects 420 thousand Euros and goes to the Amazon to buy a piece of forest and save the indigenous peoples from the West.
The film became a sensation during last year's 28th Warsaw Film Festival , winning first prize in the documentary category and traveling the UK. It has received many honors until this day including nomination for Best Documentary Film in the Polish Film Academy Eagles; special mention for The Sheffield Green Award at Sheffield Doc IDF; and official selection for prestigious festivals such as the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Hot Docs Toronto and SXSW. Reviewed by The Mirror as “a breathtakingly bonkers doc,” and as "an amazingly effective film" by Newsweek - England, Marczak’s documentary is a must-see.
Marczak's Fuck for Forest (2013) questions whether saving the planet is as sexy as FFF claims it to be. A question that is not so urgent to answer remains; why not get horny for a good cause?
