Be a Trendy Yogi: Yoga Fashion from Poland
Some designers strive not only for comfort, but also to ensure that yoga, gymnastics and running enthusiasts look stylish. After all, practicing sports is healthy, but when you’re dressed in well-designed, fashionable, original sportswear, it’s also a pleasure.
Sportswear designers need to take numerous factors into account. They must be aware of trends and set new ones while keeping user comfort in mind and creating fashionable designs from state-of-the-art fabrics and materials that assist the body during physical exercise. Designers claim that well-chosen, properly designed outfits can make sports training and yoga sessions more enjoyable and effective. Which Polish brands do you need to know if you want to work out in style?
MUUV
Malina Kurkowska and Kaja Lizut set up the MUUV brand after noticing that a lot of sportswear was so ugly that people would hurriedly stash it away in their bags in shame straight after training. In 2015, they started producing subtle-coloured, comfortable, modern tops, leggings, sports underwear and jackets. Right from the outset, MUUV’s creators opted for muted, non-garish colours and simple designs – although, to quote Kaja Lizut, ‘the more minimalist the design, the more work is required to guarantee a good fit without restricting movement’. Today, this dynamically developing brand manufactures not only yoga and dance wear, but also sports jackets, swimwear, and comfy children’s clothes. Thanks to their universal designs, Kurkowska and Lizut’s products have gone beyond the gym, because they can be worn anywhere, anytime.
Miamiko
The Miamiko brand was created in 2015 by Kuba Rawek and Aleksandra Dębska. They were just 20 years old, and motivated by personal experience: Aleksandra Dębska attended yoga classes regularly and noticed that most outfit and equipment designs were boring, banal, and impractical. She was annoyed that the mats were all too slippery, and clothing designs too repetitive. So, Miamiko’s creators decided to combine comfort, aesthetics, and affordable prices, and began producing interestingly designed yoga mats with good technical parameters, as well as outfits that let everyone accentuate their individuality while training.
JOY in me
Users of JOY in me yoga mats have commented that they encourage you to train more regularly. Practical and attractive, but still underrated, their aesthetics make you feel like exercising! According to the brand’s creators, JOY in me is intended to be ‘synonymous with contemporary, conscious femininity: strong, yet delicate, natural, and aesthetic’. Apart from yoga mats and clothes, JOY in me also produces insulated bottles, socks, and mat covers.
Cardiobunny
Like most Polish sportswear design brands, Cardio Bunny (created in 2015), focuses on products for women: Activewear isn’t going to change the world, but the women who wear it will, reads their Facebook page.
The firm’s motto encapsulates its desire to create comfortable, fashionable outfits that boost women’s self-confidence. Cardio Bunny’s clothes and sporting accessories are manufactured from cutting-edge fabrics, containing seaweed fibre, for example, which stimulates the subcutaneous layer while training.
Freeme Yoga
Recycling and environmentally friendly designs are increasingly popular these days, but it was a rare philosophy in 2015, when Natalia Nykiel set up the Freeme Yoga brand. The designer and yogini decided not to keep up with trends, but overtake them and be creative, becoming the first in Poland to market leggings made of recycled PET bottles. Freeme Yoga’s products also include bactericidal, fungicidal rubber and cork mats to neutralise odours and repel excess moisture. Freeme Yoga clothing is designed by Polish artists, sewn exclusively by Polish firms, and shipped in environmentally friendly packaging. To quote the Freeme Yoga manifest:
We believe in sustainable development that responds to the needs of today’s generation without limiting the needs of future generations.
Gym Hero
Created in 2015 by Natalia Dusza, the Gym Hero brand produces comfortable sport outfits, well-fitting leggings and tops, jackets, and shorts. Aspects that the firm’s creator considers essential include not only wearer comfort, but also how they look: all the designs, styles, and prints are the work of tried-and-tested designers, and also match up with later collections. Gym Hero cares about its women clients, encouraging them to train with the aid of a specially designed planner that lets them organise training, work out diets, and break unhealthy habits.
