The starting point for this design was the classic deiof a cast iron heater. The object has a very distinct form - one can not fail not to notice it. Its designers explain on Nonegrupa’s website that the form of the heater emphasizes its function. It consists of repetitive elements - components which resemble a set of little square pillows (in Polish humorously called "żeberka" – ribs). Two bigger modules at the edges of the heater support its whole structure.
The designers took into account the possibility of changing the number of modules that determine the heating power of the heater. Its proportions can also be adjusted according to the size of the room that is to be heated. A heater module with dimensions of 36x40x5cm is destined for the interiors of public spaces which have large windows. A slightly bigger radiator would work perfectly when installed under a window sill. The full-height version (90x15x5), can be placed on any wall.
Nonegrupa also offer a variety of different finishes for the heaters. The awarded project was made of concrete and ceramics, but it can also be constructed from steel in a range of colours, including a chrome coating.
Nonegrupa is a team of young architects who value individual approaches to team work.
The group’s name does not assign us any definite identification or label. “None” does not commit us to anything but absolute freedom. We reserve the right to the unbridled creative act - say the designers on their website.
Apart from the heater, Nonegrupa have also developed, amongst others, apartment projects, a single-family home, housing in Gdynia-Orłowo and the Public Library and the City Hall in Czechowice. They combine architecture, design and graphics.
