One Hundred Twenty-Eight Very Nice Poems Written by Sixty-Eight Polish Men and Women Poets is a very personal anthology by renowned and highly popular philosopher Leszek Kolakowski. The volume contains works by poets of various times - from Jan Kochanowski to Ewa Lipska and Stanislaw Baranczak. Rather than appearing in chronological order, the poems are arranged in five thematic groupings: on dieing, on love and parting, on passing, on God, and on Poland. This personal anthology was published by "Znak" ("Sign") Publishers.
Writing in the introduction, the author of the selection states:
"I compiled for myself a collection of Polish poetic works, directed solely by personal preferences. This is in no way a historical review of Polish poetry. This selection does not differ greatly (though it always must differ some) from the predilections of the average reader, as I myself am one."
