In the mid-1990s, Roman Stańczak, a young graduate of the 'Kowalnia' at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, started to transform everyday objects. He turned a metal kettle and bathtub onto their left side, for example, and stripped the varnish from furniture. After several years, the sculptor disappeared from the art world for almost 20 years. A few years after he returned, he came back to that same idea which he had left behind in the realm of fantasy and began to explore a completely different object – a plane. Curated by Łukasz Ronduda i Łukasz Mojsak, Lot ('Flight') is being presented at the Polish Pavilion at this year's edition of the Venice Biennale.
