Based on H.C. Andersen’s fairy tale Thumbelina, the Wrocław Mime Theatre’s production is a daring interpretation and an attempt to rethink the stereotypical passive heroine in children’s stories
In director Konrad Dworakowski’s visionary production, Thumbelina is a rebellious, confident girl whose adventurous time in the animal kingdom becomes a journey to discover her identity. The performance opened the annual Midi Mini Maxi festival of Theatre for Children and Youth in Bergen, Norway. E-teatr’s review stated that
A diversity and richness of the micro-world is conveyed mainly with movement, thanks to which the little heroine of the play comes to know the surrounding and the rules that govern the world of nature. By mimicking the movements of creatures she encounters, she becomes a part of their world.
