The Museum of Modern Art is housed in two seventeenth-century Baroque houses, Dom Esterki and Dom Gaski (the houses of the Esterka and Gaska families). Formed in 1990 as a division of what was then the Regional Museum, it took over a collection of post-war art and the other holdings of Radom's Art Exhibition Agency, a state institution that was being closed. From 1992 to 2001, the Museum acquired more than 1300 works, mainly through gifts from artists. One of the largest collections was donated by the set designer Krystyna Zachwatowicz and film director Andrzej Wajda.
The Museum's collection includes art works done since the Second World War. The collection of modern Polish painting includes works by A. Nacht-Samborski, W. Taranczewski, M. Jarema, J. Stern, T. Brzozowski, J. Nowosielski, J. Maziarska, H. Stazewski, S. Gierowski, E. Mucha, J. Waltos, E. Dwurnik and others. The collection includes also portraits and self-portraits by painters such as L. Sobocki, J. Duda-Gracz, W. Szamborski, Z. Maciejewski, A. Okinczyc and others. The collection of drawings has works by renowned artists, such as B. W. Linke_os_linke_bronislaw_wojciech, T. Kantor, J. Nowosielski, E. Markowski, J. Tarasin and others. Sculpture is represented by A. Rzasa, W. Hasior, J. Beres, M. Pininska-Beres, J. Lukomski, E. Szczodrowska, L. Stehnova. Graphic art holdings include works by H. Stazewski, S. Fijalkowski, H. Chrostowska, J. Gielniak, M. Wejman, L. Sobocki, J. Gaj and J. Waltos. The collection of works by Polish emigre artists includes paintings by J. Czapski and S. Janikowski, drawings by M. Oberlaender, prints by J. Lebenstein and R. Cieslewicz. There is a large collection of works by W. Fangor. Radom-based artists, such as Fr W. Paciak and E. Kieltyka, are also represented. The Museum has works by avant-garde artists, as well as by those who opposed the movement for example, by looking for inspiration in the Polish art of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Permanent exhibition: Once a year, over the summer months, the Museum shows its holdings through "The Collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Radom" exhibition. Different parts of the collection are also displayed with temporary exhibitions.
