The centre was established in Brussels in 1989. The permanent exhibitions include works of comic strip artists such as Herge, the creator of Tintin, and Peyo, the creator of the famous Smurfs. In addition, the Belgian Comics Art Museum organises temporary exhibitions presenting the works of artists from all over the world. There is also a library and a reading room with a rich collection of over 3,000 comic books in 36 languages.
