Photographs from Krzysztof Wodiczko's audiovisual installation 'The Voices of Memory'.
The installation commemorates the victims of the Warsaw Uprising and tells the tragic fate of the civilian population of Warsaw in 1944. Krzysztof Wodiczko's realisation – the audio-visual installation 'The Voices of Memory' – tells the story of the tragic fate of the civilian population of Warsaw, their courage, suffering and assistance provided to the soldiers of the Uprising. It is a moving message about the sacrifice made by the city's inhabitants displaced from their homes and murdered in mass executions.
The work, created especially for the permanent exhibition at the Warsaw Hall of Remembrance, is in line with the work of Krzysztof Wodiczko, who advocates the 'de-warring of culture' and engages in anti-war activities.
The permanent exhibition is open at the Memorial Hall at the Warsaw Insurgents' Cemetery.
