Lucjan Mianowski (1933-2009) was one of the most significant and fascinating of Polish graphic artists of the second half of the 20th century. His studies at the École Nationale Superiéure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and later travels throughout Europe and America opened him up to the latest artistic developments all over the world and the growing influence of mass culture on the arts. He was among the first artists in Poland to experiment with pop-art. The winter 2012 exhibition in Kraków covers 50 years of Mianowski's artistic activity, showing some 140 works, such as Cathedral, Sunset, Moonlight Landscape, Steps in the Mist, Nude and Seascape and the series A Walk.
