Bożena and Jan Walencik have spent years living in Białowieża, in the heart of an ancient forest in Poland, making documentary films about the wonders of nature. Culture.pl pays the couple a visit to talk about their career and the home they love so much.
The Walenciks are creators of original films popularising awareness about the natural world. They direct, write scripts and comments, take photographs, editing pictures and sound, along with anything else all on their own where they live amongst the trees. Their two most popular natural history series are Heartbeat of the Primeval Forest (1995) and The Saga of the Ancient Forest (2009). The ten episodes of the latter involved raising animals in specially-built aviaries, aquariums, artificial ponds, terrariums and formicariums.
