Ryszard Grzyb successfully combines painting with his literary work. He made his debut as a poet while still a student in Wrocław. He has published, among others, in: Nowy Wyraz (1980-1981), Miesięcznik Literacki (1981), the publication Young Poets of a New Poland (London, 1993), the art magazine Working Title (2004). Literary World published his Napowietrzne Sentences in 2005, which is a synthesis of a multimedia project started in 2004. Ryszard Grzyb collected short poetic sentences, 'absurd – as he calls them – haiku', and placed them in a new context: on billboards, postcards, pencils, mugs, transformed them into neon signs or placards that could be seen in various places in Warsaw. His texts have also been published in Twórczość (2015, 2016). In 2020, the Foundation for Culture and Education named after Tymoteusz Karpowicz published a selection of the author's poems entitled Ja Chrząszcz (I a Beetle).
