He studied at the Directing Department of the Polish Film School in Łódź. Author of several short features (Niepewność / Uncertainty, Suma zer / Sum of Zeros, Miasto ucieczki / City of Escape) and documentaries (Płytkie wody / Shallow Waters, Przestrzeń / Space). He has been fascinated with Russia for a long time, especially with the people of Ural and Siberia. To these places he dedicated his documentaries Otchłań / Abyss (2009) about a gold fever in Siberia and Ikona / Icon about an asylum in the middle of nowhere. The film was awarded with Złoty Lajkonik award and FIPRESCI award at the Cracow Film Festival in 2016. The critics gave the prize for:
a cogitation on the human soul, and especially on souls of women of various ages, who live in a psychiatric institution in the middle of nowhere, whose lives affect the audience with an intriguing, irresistible force, also thanks to great work in cinematography and editing. Even though the truth of the film is difficult to accept, the authors' sensitive approach allows to notice hope and bestow the protagonists with sincere, human understanding.
Kasperski's first feature film is Na granicy / The High Frontier (2016), a thriller set in Bieszczady mountains with Marcin Dorociński and Andrzej Chyra in the leading roles.
Thriller is a demanding genre, so Wojciech Kasperski (a graduate of the Łódź Film School) deserves an accolade for his debut feature. In The High Frontier he intelligently connected a claustrophobic thriller with psychological observation and local realities - wrote Janusz Wróblewski ("Polityka", 16.02.2016).
