The 3rd edition of the mobile festival promoting Polish cinema abroad starts on the 3rd of October. The latest Polish films will be screened in China, Canada, Norway, the U.S., and the U.K. over the next three months.
Play Poland Festival 2013 will travel to 11 cities across the globe: Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, New York City, Oslo, Ottawa, Oxford and Sunderland in the U.K., and Shanghai.
The event includes the latest feature productions, such as Baby Blues by Katarzyna Rosłaniec, In a Bedroom by Tomasz Wasilewski, Polish Sibiriad by Janusz Zaorski, Shameless by Filip Marczewski, Three Sisters T by Maciej Kowalewski, In the Name of ... by Małgorzata Szumowska, Manhunt by Marcin Krzyształowicz and Świteź by Kamil Polak. The festival will also screen films made by the Wajda Studio, the Munk Studio, animations by Se-Ma-For, and shorts by students of the Łódź Film School.
Within the animations section, international audiences will have the opportunity to watch productions by Tomasz Bagiński, Damian Nenow, Rafał Wojtunik, Izabela Plucińska, Gregorz Zariczny, Kasia Wolf and Gregorz Jonkajtys.
A highlight of the festival is the traveling exhibition of prints and film posters. The names of the authors speak for themselves: Andrzej Krajewski, Andrzej Pągowski, Eryk Lipiński, Franciszek Starowieyski, Jacek Neugebauer, Jakub Erol, Jan Młodożeniec, Jerzy Flisak, Jerzy Treutler, Mieczysław Wasilewski, Ewa Bińczyk, Maja Muciek, and Igor Myszkiewicz.
The poster for this year's edition of the festival was prepared by Andrzej Pągowski. The artist will also run a poster-art workshop, to be held on the 4th and 5th of October in Edinburgh. Play Poland Film Festival is the largest mobile film event in the U.K. promoting contemporary Polish cinema.
During the three months of the touring festival, audiences will have the opportunity to watch the latest feature films and shorts from Poland, meet the filmmakers and producers, and attend various exhibitions and concerts. The main organizer of Play Poland Film Festival is the Polish Art Europe organization, located in Edinburgh.
