Płock is a small city of 130,000 inhabitants, yet every year on its Vistula River beach, the Audioriver festival's expertly curated line-up and cheap tickets attract up to 17,000 festivalgoers
The 2013 edition is set for the weekend of the 26th to 28th of July, taking over the beach and the Old Town of Płock with a line-up featuring Paul Kalkbrenner, Richie Hawtin, GusGus and Rudimental. With 14,000 tickets sold in 2013, Audioriver continues to grow every year, at the same time retaining its most devoted followers.
Among almost 30 Polish artists are top-notch names on the electronic scene, from Kamp!, and XXANAXX to Marcin Czubala, Dobrebity.pl Showcase, The Phantom and Chmara Winter. The list includes Novika & Mr. Lex, as well as some distinguished, very capable veterans like Angelo Mike, Technosoul (Dtekk b2b Essence) and Glasse, and recent sensations on the Polish scene like Dubsknit, PZG, Wuzet & Jurny – members of the Dobrebity.pl Showcase crew.
Kamp!
A new incarnation of a sound that marries The Cure's Robert Smith to New Order's Bernard Sumner set against rock and electro instrumentals that sport hints of The Maccabees, Arctic Monkeys and Metronomy. The result is a brand-new sound that can clearly run with the best. A fan comment on the band's Myspace page says it all - "Kamp! fucking rules".
XXANAXX
XXANAXX is a collaboration between young vocalist Klaudia Szafrańska and producer Michał Wasilewski, also known for his project Lance Flare. Last year they joined forces and together they create beautiful, dreamy songs like Disappear. The duo are now working on their debut album.
The Phantom
Considered one of the most promising Polish producers. There are many traces of British influences on his tracks, with distinctive sounds of grime, funky and the new house, but he has absolutely no reason to feel inferior to his trendsetting collegues from abroad.
Skeletone & Silence Groove
Getting more and more popular on the international drum & bass scene, Jakub Cichocki - also known as Silence Groove - is a young producer from Poland who works with Skeletone. Cichocki's first trancy EP called Shiny Snow was released in 2010 on Unearthed Recordings. The track Seven released on Terminal-4 appeared on Richard Durand's ISOS 9. He's focused mainly on progressive sound.
