The President of Poland congratulated the winners at the 2010 gala of Polityka magazine's Passport Awards
The event took place at the grand National Theatre building. The President of Poland congratulated this year's winners, expressing his belief that in spite of difficulties, Polish culture was the nation's collective "Passport" to the world that sparks the feeling that one "is a citizen of such an interesting, beautiful, wonderful Europe".
The Minister of Culture and National Heritage was also in attendance at the ceremony, along with many major figures in the artistic and political spheres.
In each category, the winners were:
Literature: Ignacy Karpowicz for the novel Balladyny i romanse
Film: Paweł Sala for Matka Teresa od kotów" / "Mother Teresa of Cats
Theatre: Paweł Demirski and Monika Strzępka forBył sobie Andrzej Andrzej Andrzej and Andrzej and Niech żyje wojna!!!
Visual Arts: Wojciech Bąkowski
Classical Music: Wioletta Chodowicz for the role of Katia Kabanova in the opera by Janaček
Popular Music: Macio Moretti (Maciej Moruś)
Tadeusz Różewicz received a special disctinction as a "Creator of Culture".
