The third PORTIZMIR triennial, titled İnsaf (It’s Enough!) and curated by Slovenian art historian Sasa Nabergoj, takes place between March 21 and June 21 2014 at Austro-Turk Tobacco Warehouse. Zamojski and Orłowski’s works are on view througout the triennial.
PORTIZMIR3 features the main Triennial Exhibition, with the participation of 23 national and international artists. Another accompanying exhibition is the Visualized Archive, representing the five Field Works which have been established and active for more than a year bringing together various artistic and scientific practices.

For PORTIZMIR3, Poznań-based artist Honza Zamojski has put together Potato Anarchy Field (2014), which consists of a site-specific installation with ladders and potatoes, arranged in such a way that their shadows form a letter "A" on the wall. The potato-covered floor acts as an architectural element defining (and limiting) the movement of visitors, but at the same time, it sits representing an ephemeral object, as the potatoes tend to rot over the course of the exhibition.
One of Warsaw’s emerging talents, 1984-born Franciszek Orłowski is exhibiting two of his past works. Small Change (2010), documents an artistic action that took place in London in 2010. Orłowski made a micro-photograph of the so-called "wailing wall" in London, and then created a one-penny coin inside which he placed the microfilm. The coin was then reassembled to look like a regular one (with respect to its weight as well) , but it was able to be reopened. Orłowski's action refers to spying methods from the begining of the 20th century. On display are five images that document his process.
Additionally on view is Orłowski's Kiss of Love (2008), which consists of a digital slide-show, depicting the artist exchanging all of his clothes, including his underwear, with a homeless person encountered during a walk. The work refers to trauma inherent in coming close to another person, both in the physical and mental sense.
PORTIZMIR projects aim at energising the art dynamics of Western Turkey’s coastal city of İzmir, while opening a wider gate to the international contemporary art scene. The triennials have been realized with the invaluable collaboration of national and international art institutions.
The first triennial in 2007 was titled Mirage and Desire, and curated by Emmy de Martelaere. The second triennial in 2010 was titled Storm_Silence and curated by Necmi Sönmez. With the third triennial this year, the project aims to shout out the international art scene: It’s Enough, art should no longer be used merely as a beautiful escape from everyday reality.
The event is organized by K2 Contemporary Art Center on its 10th anniversary in İzmir, Turkey. The participation of the Polish artists has been made possible within the cultural framework of the 600th anniversary of Polish-Turkish diplomatic relations.
