Just Music is a world-class jazz band established in 2013 by Japanese pianist Makoto Kuriya and Polish saxophonist Sylwester Ostrowski. The artists invited to cooperation an outstanding Polish trumpeter Piotr Wojtasik, the legend of American jazz Essiet Okon Essiet and double bassist and drummer Newman Taylor Baker. The band recorded a music album under the same name - Just Music, released in March 2014 by the Japanese publishing house P-Vine. The band performed in many countries, including Japan (Tokyo’s Ginza Yamaha Hall, Star Eyes club in Nagoya, Takasaki Jazz Festival), Indonesia (Jak-Japan Fest in Jakarta for nearly 30-thousand audience), Poland (Polish Radio Channel Three, Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin) as well as the United Kingdom (Japan-London Jazz Festival at the Pizza Express Jazz Club). The band's concert on September 12th 2014 during the official celebrations marking 25 years of democracy in Poland at the Royal Castle in Warsaw with the participation of the President of the Republic of Poland was one of the most significant achievements of the quintet.
Sylwester Ostrowski – jazz saxophonist and music producer. As a musician he won numerous awards, including the main prize in the jazz standards competition Siedlce 2002, and as a music producer The Fryderyk Award 2007 for Piotr Wojtasik's record Circle. For his contribution to establishing the Academy of Art in Szczecin in 2010, Ostrowski was awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage with the honorary title Meritorious for the Polish Culture. Ostrowski has recorded three CDs: When the groove is low (2011 ), Don’t Explain (2013) and Just Music (2014) . First two albums were recorded with American jazzmen known for their cooperation with Billy Harper – double bassist Wayne Dockery and drummer Newman Taylor Baker, third with Japanese jazz star, pianist Makoto Kuriya. Sylwester Ostrowski has performed with musicians such as Billy Hart, Kirk Lightsey, John Betsch, Essiet Okon Essiet and others. He is also the winner of the artistic award of the City of Szczecin (Poland) in 2012. For three years he has been leading his own band in close cooperation with Polish leading trumpeter – Piotr Wojtasik.
