The exhibition presents over 50 portraits of legendary Polish actors through the lens of Witold Krassowski, celebrating their lives on the stage and bidding them farewell as they pass the torch to the next generation
The expression and gestures of those mature actors reveal the history of their paths, their experience, hard work and method over technique, emotion, pathos and craft, along with the impact they have had on the public throughout their careers.
The series of photographs portray the most prominent figures of Polish theatre and cinema in a journalistic aesthetic. Many of the subjects have passed away, such as Gustaw Holoubek, Wieńczysław Gliński, Zbigniew Zapasiewicz and Hanka Bielicka.
These are the stars of the stage depicted offstage, costumes shed, casual but still striking, with the essence of their individuality shining through nonetheless - this is the prism through which Krassow depicts his subjects. The expression and gestures of those mature actors reveal the history of their paths, their experience, hard work and method over technique, emotion, pathos and craft, along with the impact they have had on the public throughout their careers.
