The Silesian Quartet’s repertoire encompasses over 300 pieces of chamber music, including almost 200 contemporary ones. A major part of the contemporary repertoire played by the Quartet is Polish music of the last two decades, and this is what they will present in the Konzerthaus in Berlin.
The concert is to begin with Paweł Szymański’s Five Pieces for String Quartet. Written in 1992, it is the oldest piece to be presented in Berlin by the Silesian Quartet. It will be followed by Hanna Kulenta’s String Quartet No. 5 (2011), and the Berlin premiere of Aleksander Nowak’s String Quartet No. 1 (2009). The concert evening will end with Berlin-based composer Jacek Domagała’s String Quartet No. 3 (2014).
The Silesian Quartet's performance in Berlin was made possible by the Polish Institute in Berlin. The concert is to take place in Werner-Otto-Saal in Konzerthaus Berlin, 30 June 2015 at 8 p.m.
