In his book Lupa describes the principles of his practice and artistic philosophy. His stagings allow one to understand new concepts of space and cooperation with actors, and to discover a new rhythm in theatre. The essay refers to a variety of concepts, for example, creative happiness and the inner landscape.
Piotr Gruszczyński, playwright and theatrical critic, will also take part in the discussion, which will be led by Georges Banu. Culture.pl is a partner of the event.
Theatrical Autumn in Paris
Every year in the Portraits cycle of the Paris Autumn Festival, plays by outstanding living theatre directors are presented. In previous years, Robert Wilson and Romeo Castellucci were honoured with this distinction. The prestigiousness of the festival is the reason why Krystian Lupa’s invitation is a particularly special appreciation of his artistic work and his position among the most important theatre artists in history, as well as the fact that the organisers changed the traditional formula of the festival, according to which every year a different artist is presented – the Portraits cycle will be dedicated to Krystian Lupa twice: in 2016 and 2017.
This year from November 30th to December 18th following performances will be presented: Woodcutters, staged by the Polski Theatre in Wrocław, Ritter, Dene, Voss, staged by the Stary Theatre in Kraków and Heroes’ Square, staged by the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre.
