Next to the young Polish directors in the programme of the Icelandic event is I, Olga Hepnarová, a film directed by Thomas Weinerb and Petr Kazdy. This Czech-Polish-Slovakian co-production is about a young woman who, on 10th July 1973, ran over passengers waiting at a tram station in Prague with a truck.
As well as full-length feature films, cinema lovers will see the most interesting short films realised by Polish filmmakers: Object by Paulina Skibińska, Creatures by Tessa Moult-Milewska, Domestication by Sylwia, Moment by Piotr Domalewski, Hedges by Natalia Krawczuk, Etiude by Martin Rath, Document by Marcin Podolca, and 7 Sheep by Wiktoria Szymańska.
The Polish section will be supplemented by a special showing of The Ten Commandments by Krzysztof Kieślowski. In addition, on 30th September, Hlemmur Square will host a Polish evening, at which Stefan Wesołowski, DJ Cpt. Sparky, and an Icelandic harpist will perform.
The Reykjavik International Film Festival has taken place in Iceland since 2004 and showcases the most interesting young artists of worldwide cinema for local people. The festival's programme mostly features debuts and second films by outstanding directors.
