Maciej Nowicki is a chef and an expert in old Polish cuisine, as well as a historian specialising in culinary re-enactment. He works at the Museum of King Jan III's Palace in Wilanów, conducting educational projects exploring the 17th and 18th century cuisine, addressed to participants of different age groups, both professionals and amateurs.
In Korea, the Polish chef took part in a live cooking show, during which, working with a Korean partner, he prepared a dish based on local ingredients according to the traditional Polish recipe. Moreover, Maciej Nowicki prepared a menu inspired by old Polish cuisine, which was presented to the Festival’s special guests during the garden party.
Jeju Food and Wine Festival (JFWF) is an annual event in 2018 held for the third time on Jeju Island, located at the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula. The festival brings together famous chefs from Korea and abroad, offering its participants a chance to encounter sumptuous cuisine from around the world and presenting dishes prepared using fresh, seasonal ingredients unique to the island. Maciej Nowicki is the second Polish chef invited to take part in the event – in 2017, the Jeju Food and Wine Festival hosted another chef from Poland, Aleksander Baron.
