Posters promoting ComicDom Con in Athens
This meeting about the history of Polish comics will be held during the 10th edition of the Greek comics-only festival ComicDom Con in Athens. Comics authors Maciej Pałka and Łukasz Mazur, as well as Ewa Stępień, spokesman of the International Festival of Comics and Games (MFKiG) in Łódź, will be the special guests of the event. The meeting will take place on 24th April 2015 at 6:15 pm.
We will try to present the history of Polish comics with particular consideration to the current situation. Special editions of our comics will be published at the festival. I've prepared a premiere of the second issue of my independent cycle Zin komiksowy and Łukasz Mazur, a special edition of Opowieści niestworzone: Annual. Usta pełne śmierci. Both comics will be published in English.

The Polish Comics Odyssey exhibition, organised by the International Festival of Comics and Games and Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, will be showcased in Athens as well. It will feature the works of 22 artists, including Henryk Jerzy Chmielewski, Tadeusz Baranowski, Janusz Christa, Grzegorz Rosiński, Przemysław Truściński, Krzysztof Gawronkiewicz, Michał Śledziński and Marcin Podolec, as well as Mazur and Pałka. A special catalogue will be published for the occasion.
The exhibition which accompanies the festival will be open from 20th April to 3rd May, 2015, in Ekdoseis Metaixmio bookstore at Ippokratous 118.
Maciej Pałka is a visual artist and a creator of comics. He’s authored many comics, including historical albums like Ocalić od zapomnienia: Krystyna Modrzewska and Sztukmistrz z Lublina?, Duch wolności, and the horror Laleczki. He manages a comics workshop in the Brama Grodzka – Teatr NN cultural centre in Lublin.
Łukasz Mazur is an independent publisher and comics author. His minialbum Opowieści niestworzone: Planeta uciętych kończyn won the audience award for the best Polish comics at the 2014 MFKiG, and the Opowieści niestworzone: Annual. Usta pełne śmierci will be published as a supplement to the American series Savage Dragon by Eric Larsen (Mazur’s comics is a tribute to the series).
