The exhibition will also feature those modern industrial design objects that are most characteristic for Polish and Brazilian design. They will be presented in five categories around which the narrative of the exhibition will be built, creating a space for dialogue between the Polish and Brazilian designers. The following design studios and designers (from Poland and Brazil respectively) will be exhibited: Vzór / Furf Design (furniture); Agnieszka Bar / Jader Almeida (glass); Alicja Patanowska / Holaria (china); Kosmos Project / Sergio Matos (tradition); and Zieta Prozessdesign / Domingos Tótora (innovation). The exhibition will be complemented by multimedia presentations adding a broader context and showing designs by other artists in the same category.
Gabriel Patrocinio, the Brazilian curator, explains:
Accidental meetings, such as the one which sparked the organisation of this exhibition, allow the designers from such distant countries as Poland and Brazil to discover common experiences, aspirations and initiatives… Different stories or contexts from the two countries allow the two groups to look together into a metaphorical ‘mirror’ and see similarities on the other side. In this case, graphic design and the five groups of objects create a kind of axis around which the Polish-Brazilian dialogue on design is centred.
In 2016, the exhibition will be shown in two of the most important Brazilian museums: the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (between 4th June and 3rd July 2016) and at the Museu Nacional do Conjunto Cultural da República in Brasilia (between 1st and 27th November 2016).
