Thanks to the Don’t Panic! We’re from Poland programme, three Polish bands will be heading to Barcelona this year: Lonker See, Tęskno and We Will Fail. They will be playing at the Apolo club within Primavera Pro and at Parc del Fòrum during Primavera Sound.
The 19th edition of Primavera Sound will host a multitude of activities open to all accredited professionals, from debates and networking sessions, conferences, workshops, mentoring sessions, to showcases and receptions during Primavera Pro. For five days, the present and future of the music business are debated amongst experts in the field, new up-and-coming bands and artists from all around the world. The objective is to establish closer ties between independent music scenes from different countries and to boost cultural exchange on a worldwide level.
PrimaveraPro, now in its tenth year, is a chance for bands and business professionals to network, discuss where music is now and where the future of music business is heading. With bands from Australia, South Africa, Brazil and other countries attending this year, the event aims to promote the exchange of ideas and the sharing of resources and music on a global scale.
Lonker See
Lonker See started as a project of Polish ambient duo Joanna Kucharska and Bartosz ‘Boro’ Borowski. After their first EP they invited TriCity jazz musicians Tomasz Gadecki and Michal Gos, and changed the music formula, exploring a wider spectrum. In their music you can hear (free) jazz, space and psychedelic rock. It’s based on long forms, leaving room for improvisation. Their latest album One Eye Sees Red starts with an 18-minute trip and was released April 2018 on the Instant Classic label.
Tęskno
Tęskno is a collaboration between Singer Joanna Longić and composer Hani Rani, which was established in May 2017. Together they created of a collection of songs in Polish and music, which tries to escape general genres and styles, combining acoustic (piano, string quintet) and modern sounds.
We Will Fail
We Will Fail was created by Aleksandra Grünholz. Her debut album Verstörung was released in February 2014. We Will Fail builds its pieces on repetetive samples and field recordings. Combined with synthesizers, they make dark and disturbing music – from ambient to powerful techno, sometimes with a melody full of dissonance, sometimes in an industrial context.

The Don’t Panic! We’re from Poland programme was initiated by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in 2008 to promote contemporary Polish music worldwide. Don’t Panic!’s mission is simple: to share Poland’s rich and vibrant music scene with music lovers around the globe. They have brought Polish acts to festivals around the world such as SXSW in the US, C/O Pop in Germany, Liverpool Sound City in the UK and Primavera.
Last year, Don’t Panic! brought Coals, The Kurws and Trupa Trupa to Primavera. This year audiences in Barcelona will have the opportunity to listen to three acts with entirely different sounds and aesthetics.
