The importance and quality of Polish animated films now speak for themselves. Through their original and innovative approach, both in terms of techniques employed, issues dealt with or the surrealist way they tackle the medium, film-makers such as Jan Lenica, Walerian Borowczyk, Jerzy Zitzman, Mirosław Kijowicz, Witold Giersz, Władysław Nehrebecki and many more have all done their bit towards enriching the language of graphic cinema
In September and October, CINEMATEK presents some real gems and classics from its collection. A contemporary strand rounds up the selection, including, in particular, short films from the independent Se-Ma-For studio in Łódź.
Young cinema-goers also have the chance to discover a special children's programme.
