The tour kicked off in Beijing, where the pianist gave two concerts at the Polish Embassy commemorating the 99th Anniversary of Regaining the Independence by Poland. Then, Krzysztof Książek played on stages in Chengdu, Guangzhou and Zhongshan. The tour’s finale took place in Ningbo, where the pianist performed Fryderyk Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11, together with the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, who had accompanied by the participants of the 1st Beijing International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Young Pianists co-organised by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in 2016.
Krzysztof Książek was a semi-finalist and recipient of two special prizes at the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, winner of the 10th Ludwig Stefański and Halina Czerny-Stefańska Piano Competition, the International Chopin Piano Competition in Lviv as well as the Polish National Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. He has performed in Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, South Africa, the US, Slovakia and Hungary. In 2016, he performed at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw before the China’s First Lady Ms. Peng Liyuan during her official visit to Poland.
Krzysztof Książek’s tour of China was devised by the Polish Institute in Beijing and the Ludwig van Beethoven Association. Partners of the tour are: the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beijing, Consulates General of the Republic of Poland in Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai, Ningbo Culture Plaza, Ningbo Symphony Orchestra and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
