The first of Polish trumpeter’s quartets, Maciej Fortuna Quartet, is a band with a long tradition and rich experience: it scored over a dozen of tours both in Poland and abroad, and several recordings, including the album 'Lost Keys', nominated for Polish annual music award – the Fryderyk in 2011. In 2014, as part of the project "Bronisław Kaper", Maciej Fortuna toured Asia (Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia) and the United States, where he invited to collaboration such artists as Lou Grassi, Ed Schuller, Sri Hanuraga and Mark Minchello.
The extended tour in 2015, covering three Asian countries, was a continuation of that series of concerts held by Fortuna in the previous year. This time the trumpeter was accompanied by Polish bass player Jakub Mielcarek and two Malaysian artists: pianist John Dip Silas and drummer John Thomas. Usher, a vocalist from Malaysia, performed with the quartet as a guest.
Maciej Fortuna European-Asian Quartet performed mainly the works of Bronislaw Kaper – the first Polish composer to win the Oscar for his film score. Kaper composed music for over 150 films, and, most importantly, created more than 700 jazz standards, including "On Green Dolphin Street" and "Invitation", recorded by such giants as Miles Davis and John Coltrane on their own albums.
