It is the third edition of the festival that reviews new trends in the theatres of Brazil and the world. This year’s edition will take place from 4-13 March and is thematically dedicated to racism. Apart from (A)pollonia we will see ten plays from all over the world (Brazil, Belgium, France, Greece, Congo, Germany and the Republic of South Africa). Many other attractions are scheduled in the programme, including panel discussions, workshops, and initiatives meant to promote artistic cooperation.
The most important Polish parts of the festival will be three performances of Krzysztof Warlikowski’s (A)pollonia (11th, 12th and 13th March) at Sesc Pinheiros theatre. After the performance on March 11thJacek Poniedziałek will participate in a meeting with the audience when he will talk about the process of working on the play. However, (A)pollonia is not the only Polish feature at the Festival: on March 10th within a section called ‘Reflexões Estético-Políticas’ (Aesthetic-Political Reflections) there will be a Polish panel titled ‘O Legado de Kantor: teatro polonês contemporâneo’ (Kantor’s Heritage: Polish Contemporary Theatre) with the participation of theatre critic and dramatist Tomasz Kireńczuk. The Polish part of the festival will be completed by light directing workshops conducted by Katarzyna Łuszczyk, Krzysztof Warlikowski’s long-time assistant and an experienced light director.

About Nowy Teatr:
Nowy Teatr was established in 2008 by Krzysztof Warlikowski and a group of collaborators. The theatre serves as an interdisciplinary culture centre without a permanent residence and has independently produced five of Krzysztof Warlikowski’s plays: (A)pollonia, The End, The African Tales by Shakespeare, Kabaret Warszawski and The French; and coproduced with the Parisian Odeors A Streetcar starring Isabelle Huppert. Nowy Teatr has also produced numerous less recognizable plays, and organized various exhibitions, concerts and lectures.
In the spring of 2016 the new residence of the theatre will be opened in a renovated historic hall in the Mokotów district of Warsaw.
