During the Klarafestival between 9th and 13th March, film lovers in Brussels will have a chance to watch ten parts of the Decalogue series. Besides film screenings, a lecture by musicologist Dr. Nicolas Reyland is planned – he will talk about the role of Zbigniew Preisner's music in the films of Krzysztof Kieślowski and about the relationship between religion and 20th-century Polish music .
Another important event of the festival will be a concert of music from Kieślowski's Decalogue on 13th March. Performed by the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic and Choir, it will be conducted by the composer himself – Zbigniew Preisner.
The anniversary of Kieślowski's death will also be commemorated by cinephiles from Antwerp. Between 3rd March and 29th April the city will see a retrospective of Kieślowski's films, featuring both his early and late work. Screenings include short documentaries: The Bricklayer, Talking Heads, Night Porter's Point of View and Curriculum Vitae, as well as feature films: Blind Chance, No End, A Short Film About Love, A Short Film About Killing, The Double Life of Véronique and the Three Colours trilogy.
As part of the retrospective, the Polish Institute in Brussels will also organise a meeting with Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi, who was also Kieślowski's friend and the director of the TOR film studio, where Kieślowski's most important films were made.
