From 16 September to 9 October, the Aufstiege Light Art Festival will be held in and around Stuttgart. In 25 cities and towns more than 40 artists from around the world will present their installations and projections, including Karolina Hałatek.
For three weeks – always after dark – staircases, driveways, squares, towers, and underpasses will be illuminated by the works of artists from ten countries. Karolina Hałatek, who in 2016 has held a residency at the prestigious Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, created Terminal – a large format installation – specifically for the city of Gerlingen. Of the artist, culture.pl writes:
Karolina Hałatek works with engineers, technicians, and scientists in the realisation of her work. Her formally efficient installations make use of materials such as neon, lasers, light, and mirrors.
Concurrent with the installation on the Town Hall Square in Gerlinger (beginning 17 September, Sitzungssaal, Rathausplatz 1) there will be an exhibition at the Akademie Scholss Solitude dedicated to the process of Terminal’s installation (beginning 15 September). There will be a meeting with the artist in Sitzungssaal (20 September) and at the Freie Kunstakademie Gerlingen workshops will be offered on her methods (1 October). In turn, Hałatek opens her studios at the Akademie Schloss Solitude on 2 October.
