OCT-LOFT International Jazz Festival is one of the largest jazz festivals in China. In 2014 it was held from 8th to 30th October. Among the invited artists were Stefan Micus (Germany), Eddie Gomez Quartet (USA) and Samuel Blaser & Pierre Favre (Switzerland). The Imagination Quartet’s performance was the first Polish accent at this festival. The event takes place in a reconstructed post-industrial factory, located in the financial district of the city.
Imagination Quartet is an expressive music project launched in 2009 in Warsaw. Though it clearly relies on classic jazz esthetics, it does not let itself be trapped in music standards and common expectations. Drawing extensively on improvised, experimental music, IQ plays energetic, passionate, direct jazz, which will also surprise the listener with humorous taunts. Just as the name of the band says, it is a music full of imagination, rich, unlimited, sitting where the line between harmony and frantic expression gets blurred. Imagination Quartet has already played over 60 concerts, among others the finals of Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Jazz po polsku Festival, Krokus Jazz Festival, Jazz Juniors and Dreszer Jazz Festival. In June 2010 they performed during the opening event of World Press Photo.
