The Adam Mickiewicz Institute will be promoting Polish theatre and music during the Performing Arts Market in Seoul and also participating in the conference dedicated to music Mu:con.
The Performing Arts Market in Seoul (PAMS) is one of the most important fairs that promotes the arts in Asia. Their aim is to support development of performance art in Korea as well as establish cooperation between Korean and international artists, groups, organisations and festivals. The Korea Arts Management Service is responsible for the creation and organisation of the event. They also arrange demonstrations of Korean and international performing arts, fairs, lectures, meetings and other networking activities.
The IAM has participated in PAMS for the past two years. In 2013 the Polish presence at the market will focus on communicating and arranging talks and meetings with managers and program organisers in Asia rather than artistic exhibitions. Employees of IAM (Małgorzata Mostek in theatre, Michał Hajduk in music and Marcin Jacoby for cooperation with Asia) will be making new acquaintance with foreign partners. IAM will also have its own stand at the fair.
Mu:con is another large conference but its focus is on contemporary music. The talks will feature discussions on the prevailing trends in the current music markets of Asia and other parts of the world. This year’s conference program is divided into the the following thematic blocks:
- Beyond Borders: the current state and outlook of the global music industry
- Beyond Genre: active, inter-genre and international exchange of musicians
- Beyond Music: the business benefits of connecting artists with industry professionals
