Łukasz Stokłosa (born in 1986) is the recipient of last year’s prestigious award of the Marshal of the Lower Silesia Voievodship, which he won in the Geppert competition. He had an individual exhibition at the Kunstverein Schloss Assenheim in Germany (titled Gruppo di Famiglia in un Interno). Thames and Hudson chose to publish his paintings as part of the 100 Painters of Tomorrow album. The renowned art historian Paweł Leszkowicz called Stokłosa the most promising artist of the young generation. His paintings are filled with palace interiors and gardens, winter landscapes and portraits of movie stars, all maintained in the noir aesthetic.
Karolina Jabłońska and Cyryl Polaczek are both making their debut at the Berliner Liste. The works of Jabłońska (born 1991), a student of the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts, can be included in the New Primitivist trend. Her works are most often self-portraits filled with humour and irony, wherein she is portrayed surrounded by flowers, fruit, and animals. Karolina explains:
"What surrounds me in my family home also appears in the paintings. My grandma, the house, a dog, a cat, hens, the countryside landscape all seem somewhat naive as themes, but thus they are honest. Painting is usually an energising and joyful process for me."
Cezary Polaczek (born 1989) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and the Universitat der Kunste in Berlin. His works are rich with painterly matter – Polaczek is skilled at creating the illusion of space, which changes as a result of the emerging and discovering of new layers and splatters of paint. Sometimes, it is a sensual game between reality and hallucination (like in his series of tiles, or the giant pieces in the Muchy series). Polaczek himself declares: "In my works, I like to connect realistic elements with some kind of an allusion, with something abstract. In art, I am fascinated by contradition."
