Forbidden City Chamber Orchestra (FCCO) is an ensemble playing early and contemporary music on traditional Chinese instruments. In order to enrich and expand their repertoire with a series of new, contemporary compositions, the Orchestra's artistic director Professor Liu Shun proposed a project as part of which Polish composers were invited as artists-in-residence to Beijing. The first of them was Wojciech Blecharz, whose composition was performed by the FCCO during the Warsaw Autumn Festival in 2014. In March 2015, residencies of five other Polish composers - Tadeusz Wielecki, Jarosław Siwiński, Piotr Roemer, Paweł Hendrich and Lidia Zielińska - were held successively. The final event concluding this residency project was a gala concert at the Beijing Concert Hall on 22nd November, 2015, when the pieces created by the composers had their world premiere. It is worth mentioning that the repertoire of this unique concert consisted solely of Polish compositions and Polish artists were present at the event.
