The European Union Youth Orchestra kicks off its spring tour with two concerts in Łódź
This month the EUYO takes up a two-week residency programme in Poland to prepare the repertoire for their spring tour, launching the tour at the end of March with two concerts in Łódź. First the orchestra performs a Chamber Music concert at the MS2 art museum on March 27, followed by a Symphony Music concert at the Philharmonic on April 1. The repertoire features works by Liszt, Wagner and Grażyna Bacewicz.
The European Union Youth Orchestra was founded in 1978, bringing together young musicians from all European Union countries. EUYO musical director is Vladimir Ashkenazy, a virtuoso pianist, chamber musician and conductor. The orchestra is made up of 120 people aged 14 to 24 years from 27 countries across the European Union. The skill level of this professional orchestra is on par with the world's best, with the advantage of a wide-ranging repertoire of various styles.
