The “European Stadium of Culture” initiated activities aiming to promote the cultures of Poland and Ukraine, host countries of UEFA EURO 2012, stressing the meaning of their common cultural heritage, supporting their cooperation and creating artistic projects.
All of these actions were conducted by strengthening collaboration between animators of culture and the public and private sectors, cultural networks and other partners, as well as the cultural institutions. The main goal of the program was the establishment of a common cultural space, enabling the realization of joint projects in the field of culture, as well as the promotion of a sense of community among citizens.
The inauguration of the "European Stadium of Culture" took place between the 12th and 14th of August 2011 in Rzeszów, as an open event taking place throughout the city. Many artistic projects and concerts were held in public spaces. Artistic actions, multidisciplinary workshops, concerts as well as debates and discussions encouraging viewers to interact and contribute to the arts were all part of the Stadium's programme.
Initiated by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, "European Stadium of Culture" is being implemented by the National Centre for Culture, the City of Rzeszów, Estrada Rzeszowska and Polish and Ukrainian partners.
